About The Position

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking a hardworking, outdoor-driven Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to help build, maintain, and enhance Pennsylvania's game lands and wildlife habitats. In this role, you will operate heavy equipment, construct and repair infrastructure, manage habitat projects, assist with prescribed fires, and work across forests, fields, and rugged terrain to support healthy ecosystems and public access. This position supports the construction, upkeep, and improvement of State Game Lands and public access areas. You play an important part in habitat development, land maintenance, and safe operations in the field.

Requirements

• One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment; or One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment; or One year of construction equipment operation experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain an active Class A Commercial Driver’s License within one year of employment.
• Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve game lands, facilities, and public access areas with equipment and hand tools
• Develop habitat areas, clear borders, and prepare natural spaces for wildlife enhancement
• Operate heavy machinery, chain saws, and snow removal equipment safely
• Build and maintain gates, trails, and wildlife structures on State Game Lands
• Follow safety laws, report hazards, and work responsibly in all weather conditions
• Assist with surveying, posting signs, prescribed burns, and landowner programs
