Landfill Operator - Starting Pay: $21.00 - $23.18 Per Hour Doe
About The Position
Environmental Services is responsible for the maintenance and operation of Sandpoint Landfill, located 12 miles east of Carlsbad on Highway 62/180. This role involves utilizing a variety of equipment to ensure the proper functioning of the landfill. The Landfill Operator will be proficient in the operation, correct application, and safe use of hand tools, as well as operating and maintaining trash compactors, front-end loaders, dozers, and scrapers. Responsibilities include the safe, proper, and efficient hauling and placement of various materials, conducting daily equipment maintenance checks (including walk-around and pre-trip inspections), completing required daily paperwork for Environmental Services, performing routine maintenance and ensuring the cleanliness of assigned equipment, receiving and executing directions, debriefing for daily activities, and working collaboratively as an integral part of the crew. As a safety-sensitive position, the Operator is subject to random drug screening. Employees may be required to work irregular hours, attend job-related meetings, and perform other assigned duties. The Road Manager Carlsbad, Road Manager Artesia, and Sandpoint Manager all have equal authority to direct the work schedule.
Requirements
- Proficiency in the operation, correct application, and safe use of hand tools

- Ability to perform daily maintenance check lists of equipment including walk-around and pre-trip and operation inspections

- Ability to debrief for daily activities
- Ability to work in a crew environment and become an integral part of the crew
