About The Position

The City of Edinburg is actively seeking a dedicated Landfill Attendant to perform the screening of all waste material coming into the City of Edinburg Landfill. This position is essential to the city, as the attendant inspects all incoming loads for adherence to waste acceptance criteria to ensure that no improper, hazardous or illegal materials are disposed of at the landfill. The role involves directing and controlling traffic for smooth operations, greeting and assisting customers with questions regarding policies and procedures, receiving incoming calls, opening and closing the landfill site, and maintaining the cleanliness of facilities. The position also requires providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The Landfill Attendant will perform routine and complex clerical work, weigh vehicles, and complete forms and reports.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalency
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Attentive to detail
Dependability

Nice To Haves

One (1) year of experience in environmental science or a closely related field
Experience in municipal functions
Skills in construction equipment and industrial maintenance

Responsibilities

Screen all waste material coming into the City of Edinburg Landfill.
