About The Position

LACO is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief in the Ukiah office to lead field survey crews on a variety of projects, including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and control surveys. The ideal candidate will be organized, dependable, and capable of producing accurate field data while maintaining strong communication with clients, contractors, and project staff.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Survey Party Chief or field crew leader 3+ years preferred.
Strong knowledge of surveying principles, field procedures, and equipment.
Ability to work independently and manage field crews efficiently.
Good communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

Lead field survey crew in daily operations.
Perform boundary, topographic, construction staking, and control surveys.
Read and interpret maps, plans, plats, legal descriptions, and construction documents.
Operate and maintain survey equipment, including total stations, GNSS/GPS receivers, data collectors, and levels.
Complete accurate field notes, sketches, calculations, and data uploads.
Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients as needed.
Ensure safe work practices and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
