About The Position

This position is accountable for directing and reviewing the preparation of complicated Plat of Highways and legal descriptions, reviewing and researching all related documents needed for the acquisition of right of way for proposed highway construction. The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire a Senior Squad Leader. Requirements

  • Current registration as a licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Illinois.
  • Four years of experience in the practice of land surveying.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience performing property/boundary survey analysis and resolution, as an Illinois Professional Land Surveyor.
  • Working knowledge of title commitments, including their purpose and content.
  • Ability to perform technical research work and to make comprehensive recommendations on surveying problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages of completion.
  • Working knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads Designer design application.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assures that preparation of Plat of Highways, legal descriptions, and related documents are prepared accurately.
  • Assures all timeframes established for the preparation of Plat of Highways and legal descriptions are adhered to.
  • Assures all title reports required are ordered in advance to minimize delays to acquisition.
  • Assures all consultant Plat of Highways and legal descriptions are properly reviewed and accurate.
  • Assures all inquiries are properly answered.
  • Assures all subordinates are properly trained and motivated.
  • Assures all required survey data is properly requested and reviewed.
  • Assures all plats, legal descriptions, title work and survey data are completed in a timely manner to minimize delays in processing excess land requests.
  • Assures all court displays as required for condemnation trials are prepared accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
  • Performs all duties in a manner conductive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
