About The Position

Kimley-Horn is seeking a dynamic, motivated entry-level Planning candidate with a relevant degree for their St. Paul, Minnesota (MN) office. The office handles a variety of planning work including aviation, land use, and transportation. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving and communication skills, a strong work ethic, and an interest in challenging assignments, advancement potential, and a cooperative work environment.

Requirements

  • Have or be in the process of receiving a BS or MS in Planning or Engineering from an accredited program by summer of 2024.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented team player with the ability to contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Ability to perform assignments and duties with minimal supervision.
  • Desire to learn and develop.
  • Solid analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible, independent, and creative.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and the ability to quickly learn other software systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the development of planning studies and conceptual engineering.
  • Solving complex problems, assisting project managers, and collaborating across disciplines to produce clients' visions for the future built environment.
  • Developing familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn's and client's practices, procedures, and standards.
  • Evaluating transportation infrastructure to identify needs and development opportunities.
  • Preparing planning studies and schematic design concepts.
  • Coordinating with various clients and stakeholders, including airports, municipal and state agencies, developers, and members of the general public.
  • Gaining exposure to diverse project experiences through services provided to both public and private sectors.
