About The Position

KaiHonua LLC is hiring an intermediate Land Mobile Radio Specialist to support a Motorola ASTRO 25 SmartZone Release 7.14 trunked system at Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan. Under general direction, the specialist works with client user groups on fleet mapping and system configuration, programs network-controller parameters and subscriber IDs, and maintains the positive subscriber list as subscribers are added or deactivated. The role includes monitoring network operations through weekly activity and efficiency reports, handling encryption and over-the-air functions, backing up and restoring the network controller, and configuring emergency and mutual-aid talk groups as needed. The specialist also provides Land Mobile Radio programming and software maintenance, including patches and upgrades, and provides Tier II and Tier III support and touch labor. Other work includes processing parts orders, producing inventory and stock-subscriber reports, and scheduling subscriber technical troubleshooting and vehicle installations. The position requires a Secret security clearance and U.S. citizenship. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record may be required; occasional company-vehicle use at the work site is noted. The role is based at Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan. The listed salary range is $55,000–$65,000 per year.

Requirements

Three to five years of experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline preferred, or equivalent experience.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Ability to explain complex information simply.
Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Self-starter able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to take proactive measures to prevent problems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to express concepts, plans, and proposals effectively.
Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain or hold a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

Support the Motorola ASTRO 25 SmartZone Release 7.14 trunked system.
Work with client user groups on fleet mapping and fine-tune the solution for best functionality.
Program network-controller parameters and subscriber IDs; maintain the positive subscriber list as subscribers are deactivated or installed.
Run weekly reports on network activity and efficiency, including checks for unauthorized user attempts, blocking, push-to-talk delays, and system errors.
Program and document AES encryption-code changes and per-talk-group encryption according to client requests or schedules.
Program and run OTAR and OTAP functions.
Back up the network controller on a schedule and restore it when required.
Program and run emergency talk-group reassignment and mutual-aid talk groups when required.
Process parts orders and run parts-inventory and stock-subscriber reports.
Schedule subscriber technical issues, including battery, antenna, remote microphone, and malfunction issues.
Schedule subscriber vehicle installations.
Provide touch labor and Land Mobile Radio programming.
Perform regular software maintenance, patching, and upgrades; update software for compatibility, security, and performance, and address known issues and vulnerabilities.
Provide Tier II and Tier III support.
Perform other duties as assigned.
