About The Position

KaiHonua LLC has an immediate opening for a Land Mobile Radio Specialist Intermediate to join our rapidly growing team. Under general direction, this role involves working with client user groups on Fleet mapping solutions, fine-tuning for optimal functionality, and programming network controllers with parameters. The specialist will program User IDs into the network controller to establish a positive subscriber list, reprogram this list as needed, and run weekly reports on network operations activity and efficiency. Responsibilities also include programming and documenting AES encryption code changes, programming and running OTAR and OTAP functions, backing up and restoring the network controller, programming emergency talk group reassignment and mutual aid talk groups, processing parts orders, running parts inventory and stock subscriber reports, and scheduling subscriber technical issues and vehicle installations. The role also involves providing touch labor, Land Mobile Radio (LMR) programming, regular software maintenance (including patching and upgrades), updating software for compatibility, security, and performance, and applying patches to address known issues and vulnerabilities. This position provides Tier II and Tier III support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline preferred or have equivalent experience
  • Three to 5 years of experience preferred
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Capable of conveying complex information in a simplistic manner
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision
  • Able to take proactive measures to prevent problems rather than reactive by nature
  • Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals
  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Occasional use of company vehicle while on work site

Responsibilities

  • Works with client user group on Fleet mapping solution and fine tuning for best functionality.
  • Programs Network controller with parameters to make this fleet map work.
  • Programs User ID’s into the network controller to establish a positive subscriber list in the network controller.
  • Reprogram Positive subscriber list as subscribers are deactivated and new subscribers are installed.
  • Run Weekly reports for activity and efficiency of network operations (checking for Bogus user attempts, blocking, PTT delays and system errors).
  • Program and document AES encryption codes changes and per talk group encryption depending on client user group request or schedules.
  • Program and run OTAR functions.
  • Program and run OTAP functions.
  • Backup Network controller on a schedule and restore when required.
  • Program and run emergency talk group reassignment and mutual aid talk groups when required.
  • Process parts orders.
  • Run parts inventory reports.
  • Run stock subscriber reports.
  • Schedule subscriber technical issues (batteries, Antenna, remote mic and malfunction issues).
  • Schedule subscriber vehicle installation.
  • Provide touch labor.
  • Provide Land Mobile Radio (LMR) programming and perform regular software maintenance, including patching and upgrades.
  • Update software to ensure compatibility, security, and optimal performance, as well as applying patches to address known issues and vulnerabilities.
  • Provide Tier II and Tier III support.
  • Support Motorola ASTRO 25 SmartZone Release 7.14 trunked system.
