About The Position

Angott Search Group (ASG) is partnering with a privately held Detroit-based company to hire an experienced Land Development Engineer to oversee commercial, residential, and mixed-use development projects. The position leads projects from initial planning and design through permitting, construction, and completion, with responsibility for quality, efficiency, and budget compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• At least 7 years of land development experience involving commercial, residential, or mixed-use projects.
• Strong knowledge of site development, construction management, budgeting, scheduling, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience reviewing civil engineering drawings, construction documents, and contracts.
• Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera, or similar project management software.
• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining budgets, schedules, and quality standards.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Engineer (PE) license; ability to obtain Michigan licensure is a plus.
• OSHA 30 knowledge or certification.

Responsibilities

• Manage land development projects from concept through design, entitlement, permitting, construction, and final completion.
• Develop and oversee project budgets, schedules, cost projections, and resource planning.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, consultants, and local government agencies to support successful project execution.
• Oversee site planning, grading, stormwater management, utilities, and infrastructure design.
• Manage contractor bidding, requests for proposals (RFPs), contract negotiations, change orders, and vendor relationships.
• Review construction plans, specifications, invoices, and project documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor job-site progress, resolve construction challenges, and ensure projects meet quality and safety standards.
• Manage regulatory approvals, development obligations, and project closeout requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve project efficiency, control costs, and accelerate project timelines.
