About The Position

Reporting to the Director, Land Development, the Land Development Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of residential land development projects, from preliminary design to assumption by the City. Providing leadership to a team of consultants; managing the planning approval process and participating in the oversight of construction activities.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, urban design/planning or a related field of study; graduate degree would be an asset.
  • Proven land development project management expertise with a minimum of five years’ experience.
  • In-depth understanding of land development planning, approvals, regulations, and legislation.
  • Progressive experience in dealing with municipalities.
  • Familiarity with project specific budgeting and cash flow
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to build and maintain relationships.
  • Proficient in reading, understanding, and providing feedback on multi disciplinary technical drawings and studies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Innovative and creative problem solver who has experience challenge the status quo to create a better product.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrates a passion for urban planning and land development.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Work, PowerPoint).
  • Valid drivers license with the ability to travel throughout the city would be considered an asset.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in preliminary community, subdivision, and site plan design.
  • Manage projects throughout the development process to achieve major milestones, including approvals, plan registration, construction and final assumption.
  • Oversee planning approvals by preparing and submitting applications (official plan, zoning, draft plan, site plan, part lot control, committee of adjustment, etc.) through to final approval.
  • Manage the consulting team, providing direction, timelines, and input on technical deliverables required as part of the approvals process.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders such as consultants, partners, city staff, and community members.
  • Track project progress, critical paths, and report to management.
  • Create and maintain budgets, review and negotiate contracts, and track invoices.
  • Develop communication materials, attend meetings, and oversee logistics (scheduling, preparing agendas, meeting notes and minutes, and disseminating information).
  • Conduct site visits, attend site meetings, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide direction on deficiency/issues resolutions.
  • Support work with financial analyses, owner’s groups, front ending agreements, cost-sharing, development charges and collect back that are relevant to the site’s being managed.
