About The Position

The Laminator Assistant is responsible for performing quality checks, operating the downstacker section of the machine, and assisting the Laminator Operator. This role requires troubleshooting mechanical issues, communicating quality problems to the team, and performing operator duties during breaks. The position also involves maintaining a clean work area and adhering to all safety and company policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Ability to work on an elevated surface, frequently climbing up and down stairs.
  • Ability to stand constantly, bend and reach with arms frequently.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds (if machine is not equipped with pallet inserter).
  • Ability to perform basic math functions (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime on short notice, both during the week and weekends.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, around machinery, and heavy forklift traffic.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to communicate using a 2-way (noise filtering) radio headset.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to work within a team, effectively communicating with members.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience in a press/laminating department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality checks and inform operators of sheet quality issues.
  • Set up and operate the downstacker section of the machine.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues as required.
  • Lay mylar over label to determine die-cut lead edge and print registration tolerances.
  • Work with the crew to maximize machine efficiency by communicating quality problems (e.g., order line-up, loose liner, warp, correct size, print, flute).
  • Communicate mechanical problems to the supervisor and other crew members.
  • Train with and assist the Laminator Operator with job duties.
  • Perform duties of the Operator during breaks, including setting up the feeder.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Perform housekeeping duties.
  • Adhere to all safety and work rules, company policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
