The Lamination Technician may work in various areas of the lamination department, including rolling, prepping material, and sanding. This role involves preparing fiberglass for molding and strip creation. The Lamination Technician works in the Lamination Department and reports to the Lamination Manager. Responsibilities include following proper lamination processes and procedures per SOP, mixing catalysts into resins, and saturating cloth and mats with mixtures using brushes. The technician will apply layers of plastic resin to mold surfaces before placing fiberglass mats, repeating layers until the desired thickness is achieved according to product standards and after the plastics have jellied. They will select precut fiberglass strips and place them onto prepared molds, patting and pressing layers of saturated mat, cloth, and fiberglass pieces onto molds using brushes or hands. Smoothing out wrinkles, air bubbles, or other imperfections with hands, rollers, or squeegees is also part of the role. Maintaining assigned safety training and performing other duties as assigned are expected.
