About The Position

The purpose of this position is to ensure that the Lamination process remains safely running and that the product remains free of quality defects. This role involves making machine/process adjustments, visual inspections, and maintaining the operation of equipment through associate maintenance tasks and housekeeping. The technician will be responsible for the overall visual control of their assigned section of the line, monitoring parameters, performing quality checks, and assisting with inventory management and audits. Additionally, the role requires feeding new rolls of material, assisting the Department Lead in daily production, and maintaining a positive, team-oriented attitude.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform basic reading, writing, and math.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Familiarity with current computer systems and software.
  • Ability to operate a lift truck once trained.
  • A high-school diploma or equivalent.
  • Passion and track record of achieving results.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with all levels of associates.
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions.
  • Experience with continuous manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time in hot or cold environments.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Making machine/process adjustments on the line and on computer.
  • Visual inspections of products for defects and grading.
  • Following specific instructions on each order.
  • Maintaining operation of the equipment through associate maintenance tasks and housekeeping.
  • Achieving set quality standards and raising the flag when outside of those standards.
  • Overall visual control of the assigned section of the line.
  • Jumping seams.
  • Flying rolls using a gantry crane.
  • Driving lift trucks to move inventory to and from the line.
  • Monitoring parameters such as speed, edge trim, unwinder change overs, material properties (too hot/cold).
  • Performing quality checks on finished product and entering that data into the computer.
  • Issuing and confirming material in the inventory management system.
  • Assist lead and supervisor with weekly inventory audits.
  • Thread up the line as needed.
  • Assist other departments as needed.
  • Understand lockout tag out and green lock procedures for safe operation of the equipment.
  • Feed new rolls of material such as the core, backing material and the wear layer.
  • Assist the Department Lead in the daily production of quality Resilient flooring in the safest, most efficient and productive manner, by utilizing established methods and procedures.
  • Lead by example as a positive, team-oriented employee.
  • Housekeeping in the department.
