About The Position

The Lactation Consultant functions as a member of the health care team by providing patient and family education, acting as a consultant and resource for the medical and nursing staff, and by serving as a community resource for breast feeding related care throughout the organization, not just in Maternal Child Health. The Lactation Consultant uses specific age and culture-related physical, intellectual, psychosocial, and developmental attributes in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for breast feeding patients.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in nursing
• 2 years of recent maternal child experience required
• Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan required
• CRT-Board Cert Lactation Consultant (BC-IBCLC) - IBCLCE International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners required within 2 years
• AHA, ARC, or Canadian Heart and Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• 2 years of relevant experience
• IBCLC upon hire with previous Lactation Consultant experience
