About The Position
The Lactation Consultant is responsible for providing lactation consultation and education for breastfeeding mothers at Alta Bates Medical Center regardless of age, race, religion, ability, and economic or social status. The Lactation Consultant has excellent assessment and implementation skills to assist the breastfeeding mother attain her individual goals.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- RN-Registered Nurse of California
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
- CLE-Certified Lactation Educator
- IBCLC-International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, within 2 years of employment
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Minimum of two years of experience in perinatal nursing or perinatal education
- Minimum two years of experience counseling breastfeeding women
- Experience supporting breastfeeding in NICU
Responsibilities
- Providing lactation consultation and education for breastfeeding mothers.
- Assisting breastfeeding mothers to attain their individual goals through excellent assessment and implementation skills.
