About The Position

The Lactation Consultant is responsible for developing policies, procedures, and professional guidelines for the delivery of care to breastfeeding women to help them achieve their breastfeeding goals. This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating the plan of care for breastfeeding women. The position requires performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse by the State of Florida
  • BSN required
  • Licensed to practice as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) by the Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in maternal, newborn, or women’s health care.

  • Develops policies, procedures and professional guidelines in the delivery of care to breastfeeding women so that they might achieve their breastfeeding goals.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, documents, and evaluates plan of care regarding breastfeeding women.
