About The Position

Reporting directly to the Area Supervisor, this role is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy equipment and performing various duties for the division’s winter maintenance programs. As a Labourer II, you will perform a variety of tasks related to road maintenance and winter programs.

Requirements

• Grade 12 completion or the equivalent
• Valid DZ and/or AZ driver’s license in good standing with no more than 3 demerit points.
• Experience in the operation of heavy equipment and snow equipment under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.
• Compliant with the Commercial Vehicle Operator Registry.
• Demonstrated mechanical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check.
• Proof of qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Participate in winter road maintenance programs, including plowing, sanding, salting etc.
• Participate in road maintenance programs including shouldering and road surface repairs.
• Operate and maintain heavy equipment under all legislated requirements.
• Perform all routine equipment maintenance including daily safety inspections, maintenance checks, and cleaning.
• Record road conditions and report to Area Supervisor.
• Perform road patroller duties as per the direction of the Area Supervisor.
• Advise the Area Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
• Participate in and attend training courses as required by the Town.
• Perform other labourer-related duties as required.
• Be responsible to work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Town of Caledon Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines.
