About The Position

Labournet is seeking a Labour Law Litigator to join their branch. This role involves managing all phases of litigation matters for clients, from investigation and discovery to arbitration and settlement. The position requires providing legal advice, analyzing risks, researching case law, and representing clients in various dispute resolution processes. The role also includes drafting correspondence, gathering and analyzing evidence, preparing witnesses, and updating case management systems. The Litigator will contribute to client growth and management, ensuring matter files and litigation are maintained to the required standard and achieving a high success ratio in assigned disputes.

Requirements

  • B-Degree in IR/Law/HR/Industrial psychology or related field
  • At least 1 years’ experience within Labour Law at LabourNet
  • Up to date with LAPs
  • Eagerness to learn the ins and outs of Labour Law
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Must be able to effectively function within a pressurized and fast-paced environment
  • If less than 1 Year Service and/or LAPs not up to date - An LLB with Litigation Related Experience / Track record and LAP catch up plan is essential.
  • Maintain average performance of 90%
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle is essential

Responsibilities

  • Attending to all client matters and all phases of litigation matters/cases from the investigation, discovery, assessment phase through the pre-arbitration, conciliation, settlement, mediation, and arbitration processes.
  • Providing Labour related Legal advice to Clients
  • Discussing complex cases / disputes with Clients
  • Analysing risk and probable dispute outcomes
  • Assist with research on most recent case law
  • Assist Clients with the preparation for different disputes
  • Drafting correspondence to Clients, the CCMA/Council, Union Officials and other employee representatives.
  • Gathering and compiling evidence, analysing evidence and the preparation of witness testimonies
  • Representing Clients at conciliation, con/arb, and arbitration level as well as pre-arbitration proceedings
  • Assist in settlement of disputes
  • Update cases (Litigation) on CMS
  • Various other responsibilities, including, but not limited to those specified herein and other requests and instructions from time to time
  • Contribute to growth and client management
  • Matter files are in line with the required standard.
  • Management of litigation matters to required standard
  • Maintain a high (As per BSC) success ratio in disputes assigned to you.
