The Laborer position is responsible for assisting skilled construction workers in performing their assigned duties and performing a large variety of duties. This is a non-exempt role that reports to the Foreman, with assigned duties according to specific procedures and frequent work checks.
Requirements
- High school or equivalent
- Ability to follow instructions without being distracted
- Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
- Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots, etc.)
- Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.)
- Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace
Responsibilities
- Assisting skilled construction workers in performing their assigned duties
- Performing a large variety of duties
- Digs, spreads and levels dirt and gravel
- Lifts, carries, and holds building materials, tools, and supplies
- Cleans tools, equipment, materials, and work areas
- Mixes, spreads, or pours concrete, asphalt, gravel, or other materials
- Joins, wraps, and seals sections of pipe
- Performs a variety of non-machine tasks such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trench, etc.
- Spends time on one job or may be transferred from task to task as the project progresses to completion
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
