About The Position

Maine Drilling & Blasting is hiring a construction laborer to support drilling and blasting operations. The role involves following job-specific instructions from Superintendents, Blasting Supervisors, or Drill Operators; performing construction laboring activities; and learning safety practices for construction sites and work around explosives. Work takes place outdoors in varying weather and on uneven, loose surfaces. Out-of-town travel and overtime may be required. Requirements

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record and own transportation.
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check for ATF.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including working at a steady pace outdoors on uneven and loose surfaces.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally (5% of the time) and 50 pounds for 50% of the time.
Ability to stoop and bend 60–70% of the time.
Safety-mindedness and ability to work well in varying weather environments.

Nice To Haves

Construction laborer experience is helpful but not necessary.
Ability and willingness to learn and develop skills for higher-level tasks.

Responsibilities

Follow Company safety procedures and policies.
Submit an accurate, signed time card to the Blaster or Foreman weekly.
Learn and follow safety practices for construction sites and work around explosives.
Take direction and perform construction laboring activities.
Work unsupervised occasionally.
Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
Load and unload explosives from trucks.
Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
Keep the job site clean and organized.
Participate in monthly Foreman meetings, periodic safety and job meetings as needed, and daily heads-up safety meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
