About The Position

Maine Drilling & Blasting is hiring a Construction Laborer to perform construction and blasting-site support under direction from Superintendents, the Blasting Supervisor, or Drill Operators. The role involves hands-on work around drilling and blasting operations, learning safety practices and industry skills, and working outdoors in varying weather on uneven and loose surfaces. Out-of-town travel and overtime may be required. The stated starting pay is $21.00 per hour, plus a $150 weekly travel allowance.

Requirements

Valid driver's license with a good driving record and own transportation.
Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Successfully pass a criminal background check for ATF.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
Ability to work at a steady pace outdoors on uneven and loose surfaces.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally (5% of the time) and 50 pounds half the time.
Ability to stoop and bend 60–70% of the time.
Safety-minded and able to work well in varying weather environments.

Nice To Haves

Construction laborer experience is helpful but not necessary.
Ability to learn and develop skills to later perform higher-level tasks.

Responsibilities

Follow company safety procedures and policies.
Submit an accurate, signed time card to the Blaster or Foreman each week.
Learn and follow safety requirements for construction sites and working around explosives.
Take direction and perform construction laboring activities; work unsupervised occasionally.
Pump blast holes dry using a water pump.
Load and unload explosives from trucks.
Carry buckets of stemming stone to stem blast holes.
Keep the job site clean and organized.
Participate in monthly Foreman meetings, periodic safety and job meetings as needed, and daily heads-up safety meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.
