This Union position is listed as an opening at Aquarion Water Company of Massachusetts (Millbury/Oxford) for a part-time, temporary, Laborer associated with the water systems in Millbury and Oxford. The applicant must have the necessary technical, mechanical, communication, and basic skills which are required to fulfill this position.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school degree.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 9 months of employment, Class 1 certifications in Treatment and Distribution of Water from the state of Massachusetts.
  • Possess ability to lift 75 pounds and ability to use a respirator and other safety equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Must have a driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in the heat and full sun.
  • Successful candidate may also hold a Cross Connection Surveyor license.

Responsibilities

  • Reading, installing, and removing customer meters with radio based and hand held equipment, including uploading and downloading meter reading route information and data.
  • Repairing and maintaining fire hydrants.
  • Perform general plant maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds keeping.
  • Assist in the maintenance and operation of pumps, motors, valves, hydrants, and related appurtenances.
  • Operate a diverse assortment of mechanical and electrical tools, including pneumatic tools, cutting, hand, and power tools.
  • Possess ability to lift 75 pounds and ability to use a respirator and other safety equipment.
  • Ensures all activities are in compliance with company and regulator mandated procedures, rules, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Perform other various duties as assigned.
  • Cross Connection Survey and testing.
  • Treatment plant operations and rounds.
  • Various distribution work, i.e., valve maintenance, dig safe/locations.
