Laborer - Part-Time - $20.57-$25.00 - Public Works Department
About The Position
The City of Vacaville is currently recruiting Part-Time Laborers for the Public Works Department. Immediate openings are available in the Parks and Streets Divisions. Laborers will perform a variety of maintenance tasks and may be assigned to work in areas such as Parks, Streets, Facilities, Field Utilities, Garage Maintenance, or Central Warehouse. This recruitment aims to establish an eligibility list for future Laborer vacancies across all Public Works divisions. Successful candidates will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility in performing multiple tasks throughout the day.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is highly desirable
- Experience in landscape or construction maintenance is highly desirable
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record
- Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire
- Ability to drive a vehicle for City business and operate power tools
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Flexibility in performing multiple tasks throughout the day
Responsibilities
- Cleaning City buildings and parks
- Operating weed-eaters, lawnmowers, and other power tools
- Manual tasks such as loading and unloading materials and equipment, digging and covering holes and trenches
- Cleaning and servicing equipment
- Maintaining and repairing sewer and water lines, streets, and storm drains
- Assisting other City staff in maintenance operations
- Performing warehouse and courier duties by making daily deliveries to City facilities
