About The Position

This position is seasonal and serves as the laborer for the Horse Racing Section. The duties consist of collecting urine samples from racehorses. Samples collected are a part of the evidentiary procedure; thus, all samples collected are considered as possible evidence in the event that a sample is analyzed and proves to be a positive identification of a drug or unreported controlled medication. This position also assists the veterinarian with their duties as needed. The Michigan Gaming Control Board is a state agency dedicated to ensuring the conduct of fair and honest gaming. Our agency continues to change and adapt to meet new challenges and began regulating several new forms of gaming in 2020, including onsite sports betting at the Detroit casinos, internet gaming, internet sports betting, fantasy sports, and mobile wagering for pari-mutuel horse racing. Requirements

  • No specific amount of formal education is required.
  • Laborer 5: No specific type or amount is required.
  • Laborer E6: One year of experience performing duties involving the use of hand tools and motorized machinery equivalent to a Laborer 5.
  • Employment in the state classified service demands a high degree of loyalty and imposes high ethical standards on employees to ensure the integrity of state government and maintain effective services.
  • All employees must meet these ethical standards and all appointing authorities are obligated to enforce these ethical standards.
  • All employees are required to report any possible conflict of interest.
  • A reference check from your current or most recent supervisor is required.
  • Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

  • Collecting urine samples from racehorses.
