About The Position

ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are an El Paso born and raised company, and we are currently looking for YOU! The Laborer position is an entry level position that will open many doors for you. Come join us! Laborers perform essential manual tasks, including cleaning, loading/unloading materials, and assisting skilled tradespeople in our construction projects. They operate hand/power tools and machinery to ensure project efficiency and safety.

Requirements

1+ yrs. of previous work experience preferably in the construction industry.
Must be able to follow instructions and comply with our Safety rules and Procedures.
Ability to work hard, positive attitude and get along well with team.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written or oral instructions.
Must be work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements, heat/cold temperatures, wind, rain, blowing dust
Able to work around moving equipment and tolerate loud noise levels
Bend and stoop repeatedly throughout the day
Able to push, pull and lift 50+lbs
Able to walk and stand for long periods of time
Able to walk on rough, rocky and uneven surfaces at construction sites
Must have reliable transportation to/from work
Must have a valid driver's license at time of application.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in concrete and job site preparation
Shovel concrete into construction area
Dig trenches, back-fill trenches, set forms, level out dirt of job sites
Performs set-up and clean-up at job sites
Remove trees and shrubs to clear out job site
Pour concrete and asphalt onto roads
Operates and care for construction equipment and machines
Remove, fill or compact earth
Assist other craftworkers with their duties
Understand and follow directions
