About The Position

To meet the demands of internal and external customers by supplying and facilitating movement of materials, hardware and supplies. Assisting with machine set-ups, retrieving products and materials, supplying labor or tools, shipping or packing finished goods, and the maintenance of related records. Utilizing standard machinery, materials, tools, equipment, procedures and ISO/AS work instructions, assuring adherence to quality and continuous improvement standards. Performs other duties as required but which comply with ADA. Under close supervision, performs manual duties which assist the set-up of machinery or products, retrieving or shipping of all products, materials and supplies in accordance with standard practices and procedures. Adjusts schedules to maintain continuous movement of materials at a correct and safe speed. Performs manual tasks to prepare product or machinery to continue processing. Coordinates movement and destination of materials, goods and supplies from work orders, manifests, maintenance records, shipping/handling instructions, picking lists and routing instructions including on-site approval verification to specifications, daily. Under limited supervision, operates company vehicles such as vans, forklifts and/or autos to perform a variety of pick up, delivery duties and errands. Loads, unloads and transports materials, products, equipment and/or tools within the company. Utilizes manual and/or mechanical materials handling equipment, as needed. Prepares, obtains and/or completes machinery set-up instructions, work instructions, shipping receipts, material transfer orders, shipping advises, packing slips, operating records, test results and tags. Reports any malfunctions or abnormalities to supervisor/s or technician/s. Confirms, records, labels, initials and dates the following: lot/serial number, line/ product numbers, unit of measurement, quantity, stockroom number, C-number and non- conform reports, daily. Executes and performs housekeeping tasks including, trash, scrap, recycling and the like. Conducts and records preventative maintenance. Cleans work areas and machinery. May be required to work in other departments, as needed. May assist with inventory control. Inputs timely and accurate data into the company's computer databases, if applicable. Communicates on a regular basis with supervisor/s, technician/s and co-workers regarding the production, procedures and issues regarding production. Involved in the training and participation of statistical process control (SPC), work teams and project teams. Attends and constructively participates in team meetings as scheduled. May suggest, collaborate and implement/improve on effective work methods, machinery, documentation, materials, safety and team projects that could improve products, people, profits and lower cost and scrap. Assist in monitoring production quality. May assist in the entry level training and acclimatization of new employees.

Requirements

  • Able to accurately calculate decimal and fractional equivalents in the production process.
  • Under close supervision, able to use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers and the like, as well as fixtures and gauges to check work.
  • Able to read, write and/or communicate the English Language in an understandable manner with various levels of personnel.
  • Must have good customer service practices.
  • Able to read, understand and work from work orders, material lists, specs, inspection standards, inventory documentation, part numbering system and detailed instructions.
  • Able to make minor decisions as to the quality and operation of equipment, machinery and product.
  • Able to operate forklifts, safely.
  • Able to identify, to make independent decisions and/or take action when circumstances warrant.
  • Able to work autonomous and as part of a team.

  • Must be 18 years of age or over.
  • Must comply with the company's Drug, Alcohol Abuse and Firearms Policy.
  • Able to walk and stand, on average 80% to 99% of the time setting-up machines, on a concrete floor.
  • Stand, walk and lift shipments on average 30 to 50 times per shift, lifting up to 70 pounds by hand.
  • Able to handle and store reels weighting in excess of 60 pounds, with a forklift.
  • Repetitive body movements in the movement of product/s.
  • Proper body mechanics and lifting techniques, required.
  • Able to cut wire with hand cutters using approximately 20 pounds of downward pressure with momentum.
  • Visual inspection and monitoring of machines, products and the like.
  • Eye-hand-foot coordination essential.
  • Requires 100% concentration and alertness.
