About The Position

The Laborer works at The Navy Inn in Lemoore, California, supporting lodging operations and the local Naval community. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to extreme weather or temperature conditions. The role uses heavy power equipment and tools for groundskeeping, cleaning, maintenance, and basic road and pavement repair. The position may require travel to other facilities within the normal scope of duties, weekend and holiday work, rotating shifts outside normal duty hours, and overtime or emergency recall. No military affiliation is necessary.

Requirements

• Twelve months of experience demonstrating the ability to operate, control, and clean heavy power equipment and safely use heavy tools, with continual care and attention to avoid accidents and complete work properly.
• Ability to complete assignments involving several tasks or processes and remember directions and sequences.
• Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor, including unassisted lifting, moving, and carrying supplies and equipment weighing up to 45 pounds and assisted lifting up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders, stoop, bend, kneel, and work in uncomfortable positions.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to work safely with heavy tools and equipment.
• May be required to possess a valid state driver's license if travel to other facilities is required.
• One year of high school education may substitute for three months of experience, up to a high school diploma or GED as a substitute for 12 months of experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate, adjust, clean, and oil heavy power mowers; cut trees using an axe or chain saw.
• Dig ditches and trenches with a pick and shovel and perform grading and sloping.
• Break up pavement with a jackhammer; mix and pour concrete, asphalt, and hot mix; fill and level damaged road holes.
• Use leaf blowers, vacuums, pressure washers, carpet cleaners, and other associated equipment.
• Move furniture and materials.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
