About The Position

Headquartered in Baton Rouge, LA, Turner Industries has over 20,000 employees with offices and job sites across the United States. The company is currently accepting resumes for skilled Laborers in the Sweeny, TX area. This position requires successful candidates to be current residents in or near the area, as per diem and relocation are not available. The role involves assisting skilled construction workers in performing their assigned duties, which can include a variety of tasks such as digging, spreading and leveling dirt and gravel, lifting and carrying materials, cleaning work areas, mixing and pouring concrete or asphalt, and joining/sealing pipes. The job may involve spending time on one task or being transferred between tasks as the project progresses.

Requirements

  • Must be a current resident in/near the Sweeny, TX area.
  • Available to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to pass a safety council orientation/test.
  • Must pass a drug and background screen.
  • Must pass a post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
  • Must complete Hazard Communication orientation/test.
  • Must complete Turner Industries Group, LLC. indoctrination.
  • Must have OSHA approved corrective eye wear (Z87).
  • Must complete job site orientation.
  • Must adhere to job site safety requirements as required by the client (e.g., clean shaven, long sleeves, steel toe boots).
  • Must use safety equipment as required by the client (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard).
  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others in the workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous industrial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled construction workers in performing their assigned duties.
  • Dig, spread and level dirt and gravel.
  • Lift, carry and hold building materials, tools and supplies.
  • Clean tools, equipment, materials and work areas.
  • Mix, spread or pour concrete, asphalt, gravel or other materials.
  • Join, wrap and seal sections of pipe.
  • Perform a variety of non-machine tasks, such as removing forms from set concrete, filling expansion joints with asphalt, placing culvert sections in trench.
  • Transfer from task to task as the project progresses to completion.
