Laborer with PTO, Benefits Day 1
About The Position
The Laborer performs tasks at a landfill to contain loose refuse and prevent it from scattering, and directs traffic at the landfill. Work includes collecting windblown paper by hand or using a mobile vacuum, directing trucks during periods of heavy summer traffic, lifting construction materials and using hand tools for site-maintenance projects, and separating recyclable or reusable materials from trash on a landfill transfer-station tipping floor. This is a full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a listed pay range of $22.00–$25.00 per hour. The role is designated safety-sensitive and requires strict compliance with safety rules and protocols. The successful candidate may be subject to pre-employment, post-incident, reasonable-suspicion, and random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Hold licenses as required by applicable local, state, federal, environmental, and health and safety regulatory agencies.
- Strictly comply with safety rules and protocols.
- May be required to have or obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if business travel by air or access to federal property is required.
Responsibilities
- Manually collect windblown paper along the landfill fence and adjacent exterior land, placing the refuse in a trash bag.
- Operate a tractor-pulled mobile vacuum to collect loose paper and refuse along the landfill perimeter and adjacent exterior land.
- Direct truck traffic at the landfill entrance during periods of heavy summer traffic, communicating verbally or with hand signals.
- Lift construction materials for site-maintenance projects and use hand tools such as shovels, picks, axes, and chain saws.
- Manually separate metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor at landfills with a transfer station.
