PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develop all skills required to perform as a member of the labor crew under the direct supervision of a Laborer Foreman.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Must be able to evaluate information using measurable standards and have a basic competency in math, geometry, volumes, and weights
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with co-workers and work with others in a positive manner
• Ability to read safety rules and instructions in the use and maintenance of equipment and tools
• Ability to recognize and use proper hand signals for cranes and other equipment
• Must be able to follow specific instructions; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures
• Must adhere to all safety regulations and procedures and work harmoniously and cooperatively with others at all times

Responsibilities

• Works with a labor crew and Laborer Foreman in the reading of roadway plans and drawings
• Use and care of hand and power tools
• Tasks and installation of Erosion and Sediment Control measures
• Tasks involving the Maintenance and Protection of Traffic
• Tasks in the receiving and unloading of concrete pipe
• Task necessary for asphalt patching and compacting
• Labor tasks for road grading
• Performs other related duties as directed by the Foreman
