Requirements

Licenses as required by Local, State, Federal, Environmental and/or Health/Safety Regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

Manually picks up windblown paper from the periphery of the landfill, carrying a large plastic trash bag and walking along the fenced border and adjacent exterior land, depositing refuse in the bag until full.
Uses a mobile vacuum to gather loose paper and refuse. Drives a tractor pulling a vacuum along the fenced border and adjacent exterior land, guiding the vacuum hose to collect loose paper from the fence and ground, repeating the process as necessary.
During summer months with heavy traffic, directs the flow of trucks at the landfill entrance using verbal communication or hand signals.
Lifts construction materials such as lumber and bags of concrete mix, and uses hand tools like shovels, picks, axes, and chainsaws for site maintenance projects.
Manually separates metal, white goods, lumber, and cardboard from trash on the tipping floor at landfills with a transfer station.
