About The Position

This position serves as a groundskeeper for Tséhootsooí Medical Center, Wellness Center, and Nahatadziil Health Center. The role involves maintaining the grounds, operating various equipment, assisting the maintenance crew, and performing other related duties to ensure the facilities are well-kept and operational.

Requirements

Valid, unrestricted insurable driver’s license.
Resume and references are required.
Two (2) years direct work experience as a laborer, equipment operator, landscaper, or similar work of a groundskeeper such as maintenance of vegetation, landscaping duties, and pesticide applications.
High School Diploma or Equivalency (HSE).

Responsibilities

Serve as a groundskeeper for Tséhootsooí Medical Center, Wellness Center, and Nahatadziil Health Center.
Trim weeds, use push or riding lawnmowers, and properly dispose of trash and debris.
Handle hazardous areas, cut down or trim trees, bushes, and shrubbery using axes, power chain saws, or other cutting devices, while using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maintain all field equipment (tractors, power tools, vehicles) through routine inspection and maintenance checks, ensuring they are in working condition.
Clean and service all equipment (fill gas tank, check oil) prior to turn-in at the end of the shift.
Perform preventive maintenance checks on all grounds keeping equipment, identify problems, and report them to the supervisor for corrective action.
Assist the maintenance crew with plumbing, carpentry, pipefitting, electrical, or other trades and crafts work when needed.
Load and unload heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials from trucks using hand, hand-truck, or dolly.
Open crates or boxes using crowbars and cut bands using shears.
Stack supplies and materials as directed and move furniture when needed.
Dig ditches and trenches with picks and shovels, perform grading and sloping.
Fill holes with dirt and level bumps and low places using a shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
Occasionally break up pavement or other hard surfaces with a jackhammer for short periods.
Remove snow and ice from walkways around the facilities during the winter season.
Remove weeds from sidewalks and patios, clean main entrances, and ensure sidewalks are clear of debris.
Re-stripe areas around the facility such as heli-pad, fire zones, accessible areas, and parking lots.
Apply chemicals, including fertilizers or pesticides.
Perform other duties as assigned.
