About The Position

Marathon Petroleum Company LP is hiring a Laboratory Tester in the Laboratory Department of its Ohio Refining Division at the Canton, Ohio Refinery. The position performs quality-control analyses on refinery intermediate streams and finished products, provides technical support to process operations, and carries out routine equipment calibration and maintenance. It is a unionized position with an 8-hour rotating shift schedule; overtime may be required as conditions warrant. The position offers a benefits package and eligibility for a discretionary company-sponsored annual bonus program.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, or an equivalent four-year science degree with at least 16 hours of Chemistry.
Valid driver's license.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude and organizational skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

Prior laboratory experience in petroleum applications.
Experience with gas chromatography and wet chemistry.
Experience with Microsoft Office applications and LIMS.

Responsibilities

Perform multiple analytical tests simultaneously while strictly following procedures.
Conduct accurate quality-control analyses on refinery intermediate streams and finished products and provide technical support to the process.
Perform routine calibration and maintenance of equipment.
Initiate certificates of analysis according to product specification requirements.
