About The Position

Averhealth is hiring a full-time Laboratory Screening Technician I for its Hazelwood laboratory in Hazelwood, Missouri. The role supports laboratory analysis of urine specimens and involves preparing, documenting, storing, and disposing of samples, as well as maintaining work areas and sending supplies to Averhealth sites. The position works 40 or more hours per week, with overtime eligibility, on a day schedule of Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The stated pay is $20 per hour.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Forensic Science, or an associate degree.
Outstanding attention to detail and ability to perform routine tasks without errors.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
Ability to manage time effectively.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to pass a color-blind test; accommodations are available if needed.
Computer skills, especially with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to meet the listed physical and sensory requirements, including lifting at least 10 pounds, remaining calm under pressure, and sitting and/or standing for extended periods.
Ability to use a computer, monitor, cell phone, mouse, keyboard, and other general office equipment extensively.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare urine specimens for analysis by receiving, opening, and pipetting them according to standard operating procedures.
Prepare excess specimen samples for storage.
Enter sample information into the software database.
Dispose of samples after analysis is complete.
Send supplies to Averhealth sites as needed.
Maintain cleanliness of accessioning work areas.
