About The Position

Averhealth is hiring a full-time Laboratory Screening Technician I for its Hazelwood laboratory in Hazelwood, Missouri. The role works with urine specimens in a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory setting and involves preparing specimens for analysis, entering sample information, handling samples after analysis, and supporting laboratory sites with supplies. The position is scheduled for 40 or more hours per week, with overtime eligibility.

The position offers $20 per hour and full-time benefits. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime opportunities. Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Forensic Science, or an associate degree.
• Outstanding attention to detail.
• Ability to perform routine tasks without errors.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to pass a color-blind test; accommodations are made if not.
• Computer skills, especially with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to meet the listed physical and sensory requirements, including lifting a minimum of 10 pounds, using a computer and office equipment extensively, and sitting and/or standing for extended periods.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in a laboratory environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare urine specimens for analysis by receiving, opening, and pipetting them according to standard operating procedures.
• Prepare excess specimen samples for storage.
• Enter sample information into the software database.
• Dispose of samples after analysis is complete.
• Send supplies to Averhealth sites as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of accessioning work areas.
