This role is responsible for the setup and performance of equipment and test setups for clients. The technician will build and adapt setup and test equipment, examine test samples, and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, measuring instruments, and operational instructions. Following defined test plans and datasheets, the technician will evaluate test performance and sample operation to assess test results, record and explain findings, and complete test reports. The role involves adapting equipment to new situations based on engineering guidance, potentially directing staff in test setups, and examining customer samples with supervision. Communication with customers during setup and operation is key to ensuring proper evaluation. The technician will operate designated machines and laboratory equipment, perform routine maintenance, and may conduct basic calibration. Understanding specific test standards and testing technology is required, with supervision. The role also involves initiating recommendations for new equipment designs and solutions to test problems, reporting data to engineers, and potentially discussing test methods and results with clients. The technician will operate with minimal supervision within defined limits, record data on UL forms, and prepare data sheets and test reports. Planning tests, evaluating results, and reporting interpretations may be part of the role. Integrating continuous improvement concepts and communicating suggestions for improved accuracy and efficiencies to management and technical staff are also expected.
