This position involves assisting the Laboratory Curator in setting up and maintaining biology teaching laboratories. The role includes preparing and ensuring the availability of teaching materials, reagents, media, samples, and equipment for biology courses. Responsibilities also cover maintaining biological inventories, operating and maintaining specialized laboratory equipment, performing regular tests to ensure equipment functionality, and installing/configuring lab-related hardware and software. Troubleshooting equipment issues, maintaining laboratory safety standards, conducting weekly safety equipment tests, and assisting in the management of hazardous waste are key aspects of the role. Additionally, the position supports the setup and execution of laboratory experiments, recommends revisions to experiments, and provides support to students and faculty during lab sessions. Coordination of student work schedules and maintenance of storage spaces are also part of the duties. The role may also involve performing other duties as needed to support the biology teaching laboratories and the Biology Department.
