Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • Ability to do some basic algebra, calculus, and trigonometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Internships and laboratory experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory tests to determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for such purposes as quality control, process control, or product development.
  • Operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as FTIRs, ICPS, balance/ scales, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, and other equipment.
  • Tests in-service lubricants for maintenance and reliability purposes for characteristics such as wear, contamination, viscosity, density, cleanliness, and degradation by-products.
  • Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used.
  • Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment.
  • Calibrates laboratory instruments.
  • Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
  • Adds chemicals or raw materials to process solutions or products batches to correct or establish formulation to meet specifications.
