About The Position

This position is responsible for performing all required R&D testing of customer and vendor samples, submitting reports, and documenting all findings within the technical database and to relevant stakeholders in a timely manner. The role also involves performing Quality Control (QC) testing on internally manufactured products to ensure they meet product quality specifications. The technician must be familiar with general lab equipment, perform routine maintenance and calibrations, and keep the lab orderly and clean. Additionally, the position requires assisting in research and development projects and protecting proprietary information. Key responsibilities include testing incoming customer/vendor samples (raw materials, finished products, ancillary materials), conducting R&D projects involving test batches and specimen preparation to characterize properties, performing QC testing on manufactured products, issuing technical service reports with suggested corrective actions, gaining knowledge of lab equipment operation and maintenance, performing incoming raw material QC testing, preparing data for monthly technical reports, calibrating lab equipment per ISO requirements, and other duties as assigned. Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and adhering to safety practices and ISO procedures are also critical.

Requirements

  • A minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent with prior experience in an engineering or sciences field.
  • Basic knowledge of lab testing.
  • Ability to compile and interpret data.
  • Capability of communicating technical skills and information to customers/vendors, the Lab Manager, and the Technical Team.
  • Good analytical and laboratory skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's Degree in an applied sciences field such as Chemistry, Physics, etc. is highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Performing tests on incoming customer/vendor samples (raw materials, finished products, ancillary materials).
  • Performing research and development projects for different raw materials and new developmental products, including making test batches and preparing specimens to characterize properties (e.g., SP, Ash, Viscosity, Penetration, and burn rates using both ASTM and internal testing parameters).
  • Performing all QC testing on internally manufactured products to ensure finished products meet and pass required product specifications.
  • Issuing technical service reports based on test results, including suggested corrective action when appropriate.
  • Attaining a working knowledge of proper operation, calibration, and routine maintenance of all laboratory equipment.
  • Performing quality control testing for incoming raw materials as required.
  • Preparing graphs and support data for monthly technical reports as required.
  • Calibrating lab equipment in accordance with ISO requirements.
  • Keeping the laboratory clean and following all safety practices.
  • Following all applicable ISO procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with the documented Quality System.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager, Technical Team or Management.
