About The Position

This position is responsible for performing all required R&D testing of customer and vendor samples, submitting reports, and documenting findings within the technical database and to relevant parties in a timely manner. The role also involves performing Quality Control (QC) testing on internally manufactured products to ensure they meet product quality specifications. The technician must be familiar with general lab equipment, perform routine maintenance and calibrations, and keep the lab orderly and clean. Additionally, the position requires assisting in research and development projects and protecting proprietary information.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or equivalent with prior experience in an engineering or sciences field.
  • Basic knowledge of lab testing.
  • Ability to compile and interpret data.
  • Capability of communicating technical skills and information to customers/vendors, the Lab Manager, and the Technical Team.
  • Good analytical and laboratory skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.

  • Bachelor's Degree in an applied sciences field such as Chemistry, Physics, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all required R&D testing of customer and vendor samples.
  • Submitting reports and documenting all findings within the technical database, to the Lab Manager, Technical Team members, and/or customers and vendors.
  • Performing all Quality Control (QC) testing on internally manufactured products to ensure finished products meet and pass product quality specifications.
  • Performing some routine maintenance (calibrations, etc.) on lab equipment.
  • Keeping the lab orderly and clean.
  • Assisting in performing research and development projects as directed.
  • Protecting and never disclosing any Proprietary or Intellectual property to anyone without express approval by Executive Management.
  • Performing tests on incoming customer/vendor samples which includes: raw materials, finished products and ancillary materials.
  • Performing research and development projects for different raw materials and new developmental products, which usually consists of making test batches and preparing specimens to properly characterize their properties (e.g., SP, Ash, Viscosity, Penetration, and burn rates using both ASTM and internal testing parameters).
  • Performing quality control testing for incoming raw materials as required.
  • Preparing graphs and support data for monthly technical report as required.
  • Calibrating lab equipment in accordance with ISO requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager, Technical Team or Management.
  • Keeping the laboratory clean and following all safety practices.
  • Following all applicable ISO procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with the documented Quality System.
