About The Position

Eurofins Environment Testing Northern California, Air Toxics is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team! The Laboratory Technician is responsible for contributing toward meeting the production and quality goals of the laboratory. The Laboratory Technician works under the guidance of the Department Manager and Lead Scientist(s). This is a high through-put production position and the team member is expected to communicate production and technical issues to the leadership in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to take initiative and work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Good communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Consciousness of and a positive attitude toward quality control, safety, high production work and organized thought process
  • Good teamwork, ability to work closely with all the departments
  • Knowledge of Internet software and the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Adherence to safety protocol and operation procedures
  • Communicate well with coworkers and management
  • Read, understand and comply with SOPs
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds on a continuous basis, stand for prolonged periods
  • Work upright, bend and use hands and arms repetitively to perform moderate physical work duties
  • The ability to push carts with objects on board weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Hearing and speaking are needed to listen effectively and talk with individuals in person or on the phone.
  • Ability to safely handle and transport bulk chemicals including cryogenic Dewars of liquid nitrogen, compressed gasses including helium, nitrogen and hydrogen, sharps and liquid solvents such as methylene chloride, acetonitrile and acetone.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in preparing media and sampling kits for delivery to clients and ensures accurate and timely documentation of sample log in, labeling, and routing.
  • Technicians will also be responsible for proper disposal of samples and waste in accordance with all applicable procedures.
  • Conduct initial sample screening and classification as required.
  • Sample and standard preparation as required.
  • Perform additional support tasks and duties as assigned by the Laboratory Lead or Supervisor.
