About The Position

The Screening and Bioprocess (S&B) group at Corteva Agriscience is seeking a Fermentation Lab Technician to join the Fermentation Research Group (FRG). Reporting to the laboratory leader, you will play a key role in the daily operation and maintenance of bioreactors, supporting efforts to enhance fermentation processes. This position offers opportunities to work with innovative technologies, contribute to process improvements, and maintain a strong focus on laboratory safety. We are looking for a team player eager to collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment dedicated to advancing our biologicals pipeline. Requirements

  • High school diploma with 2-3 years' experience in biology, chemistry, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Ability to work fully on-site.
  • Strong commitment to Corteva’s safety culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse groups.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Capable of working in a process-driven environment involving standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs for up to half of the workday.
  • Demonstrated independence and initiative.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing setting.
  • Foundational knowledge of microbiological and biochemical laboratory techniques.
  • Experience with aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain bioreactors, including media preparation, sterilization, daily sampling, cleaning, and routine upkeep.
  • Conduct sample analyses using instruments such as viscometers, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and pH meters.
  • Participate in occasional weekend and off-hour monitoring, sampling, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a collaborative team setting.
  • Learn and apply fermentation process control requirements
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment accuracy.
  • Order and manage laboratory consumables, including receiving and stocking supplies.
  • Organize and prioritize work tasks to align with team objectives.
  • Identify and report deviations from expected results.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to technical reports.
  • Develop comprehensive knowledge of equipment operation while upholding the highest standards of laboratory safety.
