About The Position
A full-time Laboratory Technician position is available in the Tomoyasu Laboratory at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for up to three years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a closely related field.
- Strong technical skills in molecular and developmental biology.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research laboratory.
Nice To Haves
- M.S. degree in Biology or a related field.
- Prior research experience in insect genetics, developmental biology, or molecular biology.
- Experience working with Drosophila, Tribolium, or other model insects.
- Experience with microscopy, histology, or molecular cloning techniques.
Responsibilities
- Participate in research on insect molecular biology and development using Drosophila and Tribolium as model systems.
- Performing routine molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, gene cloning, DNA and RNA isolation, sequencing analyses, and related procedures.
- Conducting histological experiments using insect tissues.
- Documenting specimens using compound and confocal microscopy.
- Maintaining Drosophila and Tribolium stocks.
- Assisting with general laboratory organization and day-to-day research activities.
