About The Position

The Injection Molding Laboratory Technician supports the Engineering Plastics (EP) business by operating injection molding machines, handling and maintaining molds, and managing EP materials across both the production floor and warehouse. This is an entry-level technician role working directly with the EP business entity, requiring a hands-on, safety-conscious individual who can work with minimal supervision on established procedures and contribute to the reliability and efficiency of molding operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial technician role
  • Valid forklift operator certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with injection molding equipment
  • Familiarity with EP (Engineering Plastics) materials handling
  • Proficient with basic computing tools (Microsoft Office, Excel); experience with manufacturing systems (e.g., PCS portal)

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor injection molding machines following standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Handle, install, and remove molds safely; perform routine mold cleaning and basic maintenance
  • Identify trends or anomalies in machine performance and assist with troubleshooting using standard practices and protocols
  • Make recommendations to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of equipment
  • Operate a forklift to move EP materials, molds, and equipment within the production area and warehouse
  • Receive, stage, and manage EP material inventory in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of material usage and inventory transactions using internal systems (e.g., PCS portal, chemical inventory tools)
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on injection molding equipment per standard practices, with supervision of progress and results
  • Participate in Management of Change (MOC) processes to learn, provide feedback, and make recommendations
  • Support housekeeping standards and contribute to a clean, organized work environment
  • Communicate with internal EP stakeholders to report results, observations, and recommendations
  • Communicate with external stakeholders under supervision as needed
  • Document work activities, material usage, and equipment status accurately and in a timely manner
  • Adhere to all site safety procedures including SOPs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs)
  • Demonstrate understanding of equipment and process safety hazards associated with injection molding and EP materials handling
  • Maintain compliance with forklift operation safety standards; valid forklift certification required
  • Actively participate in safety reviews and report near-misses or hazards promptly
