About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a laboratory technician to join our Caleb Brett team in Nederland, TX. This role involves performing analytical testing on petroleum, petrochemical, and related products in accordance with ASTM and client-specific methods. The laboratory technician ensures accurate and timely reporting of results while maintaining compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements. Intertek Caleb Brett specializes in Cargo inspection and analytical assessment services for the oil and gas, chemical, and commodities markets, leveraging a global network and over 130 years of experience to provide Total Quality Assurance.

Requirements

  • Ability to multi-task in high production testing areas.
  • Good math and observation skills.
  • Proficiency using LIMS applications and established chemistry lab processes.
  • Excellent team communication, coordination, and cooperation.
  • Ability to follow standard and non-standard procedures.
  • Ability to utilize non-complex and complex instrumentation.
  • Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Previous laboratory technician experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Successful completion of at least one semester of college level chemistry and/or prior work experience in a laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical testing on petroleum, petrochemical, and related products in accordance with ASTM and client-specific methods.
  • Ensure accurate, timely reporting of results.
  • Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and operational requirements.
  • Perform chemical and physical tests based on ASTM methods or accepted industry standards.
  • Assist with equipment calibration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Clean glassware and test equipment.
  • Assist with preparing reagents.
  • Record data on data sheets and report data to LIMS system.
  • Maintain quality records, control charts, and lab supply inventories.
  • Comply with safety, quality, and housekeeping requirements.
  • Participate in cross-training as needed.
