About The Position

We are currently searching for a Laboratory Technician to provide day-to-day operational and administrative support to teams supporting the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This role helps scientific research by conducting laboratory experiments, operating equipment, preparing specimens, and managing samples while ensuring accurate documentation of all procedures. The role also maintains laboratory readiness by controlling inventory and cleaning and sterilizing instruments, glassware, and equipment. This is a full-time, on-site position based on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD or Baltimore, MD.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science field
  • Minimum of two (2) years working in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience in performing biological research.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust.
  • Candidates must receive approved adjudication of their Public Trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and coordinate laboratory experiments in support of scientific research activities.
  • Implement new laboratory techniques, methods, and procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform routine and specialized laboratory techniques to support ongoing research studies.
  • Operate laboratory instruments, machinery, and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Prepare specimens, reagents, samples, and equipment for experimental use.
  • Manage, label, track, and store laboratory samples in compliance with storage and safety requirements.
  • Analyze experimental procedures and results to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
  • Document and report all laboratory procedures, observations, and findings in required records or systems.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, materials, and consumables to support uninterrupted operations.
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory instruments, glassware, and equipment.
  • Ensure laboratory work areas are organized and maintained in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Adhere to all applicable laboratory safety, compliance, and operational guidelines.
