Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
  • Ability to execute basic algebra as it applies to the role.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred for some technician and other laboratory roles.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Operate laboratory equipment and instruments such as viscometer, densitometer, spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, colorimeter, and other equipment.
  • Test samples related to oil and gas per industry or company methods. Examples of sample types may include gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel oil and petrochemicals.
  • Instruments utilized for testing could include gas chromatograph, titrators, densitometers, ICP, AA, and other instruments.
  • Follow all company quality procedures.
  • Analyze SQC samples and compare the results to known limits.
  • Prepare chemical solutions.
  • Recognize and investigate suspect test results.
  • Participating as a team player, understanding the success of the team is critical.
  • Instrument calibration, as required.
  • Instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, as required.
  • May work a rotating schedule including weekends and holidays and must be available to work on an on-call basis. Some overtime may be required.
  • Other duties assigned by management.
