About The Position

This is a non-exempt level position. The Lab Technician is accountable for ensuring the integrity of our product in the manufacturing process and through release. This position will require the ability to utilize standardized techniques and operating procedures in order to conduct and analyze tests on sensitive samples. This role is a critical member of the Quality Team promoting Quality and Food Safety Culture.

Requirements

  • Utilize standardized techniques and operating procedures to conduct and analyze tests on sensitive samples.
  • Record, interpret, and enter test results in specified forms and LIMS software with accuracy and responsibility.
  • Perform analytical and sensory tests on in-process and finished products precisely and timely.
  • Determine and recognize inconsistencies in data and report to necessary personnel, including escalation.
  • Receive, handle, and store samples appropriately.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshoot problems, take corrective action, and maintain records.
  • Handle, organize, and store chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to Safety Data Sheets.
  • Complete verifications in testing, standards, equipment, and instruments.
  • Participate in proficiency/collaborative testing.
  • Communicate with other departments.
  • Perform routine tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Create and maintain a neat, clean, well-organized, and professional work area.
  • Perform all duties in a manner consistent with environmental, health, and safety policies and objectives.
  • Maintain samples of tested product to confirm test results.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for testing and notify manager of re-order needs.
  • Continually compare test results with standards to ensure products are within specification.

Responsibilities

  • Pass all required laboratory training.
  • Follow established SOPs accurately and efficiently.
  • Recording, interpreting, and entering test results in specified forms and LIMS software with accuracy and responsibility.
  • Perform all applicable analytical and sensory tests on in-process and finished products in a precise and timely manner.

  • Work alone and in teams across all departments.
  • Complete verifications in testing, standards, equipment, and instruments to ensure accurate performance.
  • Participate in proficiency/collaborative testing.
  • Communicate with other departments as necessary (in person, radio, email and telephone).
  • Willingness to assume additional and new responsibilities.
  • Perform routine tasks with minimal supervision.
