POSITION SUMMARY At LiquidStack, you will help validate and scale the cooling systems powering the next generation of AI infrastructure. As AI, high-performance computing, and hyperscale data centers push thermal limits beyond what traditional systems can support, our liquid cooling technologies are enabling a fundamental shift in how data centers are designed and operated. We are seeking a hands-on Laboratory Technician (Engineering Technician) to play a critical role in system-level validation, rapid prototyping, and performance optimization of advanced liquid cooling solutions. Reporting to the Director of R&D, you will work across component, system, and rack-level environments, contributing directly to product development and real-world deployment readiness. This role is ideal for someone who wants to move beyond executing test procedures and into owning complex validation environments, influencing engineering decisions, and working on cutting-edge infrastructure at scale.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Thermal Systems, or related field
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
  • 3+ years of experience in: Engineering lab, R&D, or hardware validation environments
  • 3+ years of experience in: Thermal, fluid, mechanical, or HVAC systems
  • Strong experience with: System-level testing and complex lab setups
  • Strong experience with: Refrigerant handling
  • Strong experience with: Instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems
  • Strong experience with: Charging, recovering, and handling of common refrigerants in a research lab
  • Strong experience with: Troubleshooting across mechanical, thermal, and fluid systems
  • Willingness to travel up to 5%
  • Valid passport and driver’s license
  • Ability to meet background check and screening requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Liquid cooling, CDUs, immersion cooling, or DTC systems (preferred)
  • Data center infrastructure or high-performance computing environments (preferred)
  • Test automation, scripting, or controls systems (a plus)
  • Working in fast-paced, iterative product development environments

Responsibilities

  • Own system-level testing and validation of liquid cooling solutions across lab and rack-scale environments
  • Build, configure, and operate complex test systems, including fluid loops, sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition platforms
  • Partner with engineering to design, modify, and optimize experimental setups
  • Execute and adapt test plans in a fast-paced, iterative R&D environment
  • Troubleshoot and debug integrated systems, identifying root causes across mechanical, thermal, and fluid domains
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify performance trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities
  • Contribute to test automation and efficiency improvements, including scripting, controls, or process enhancements where applicable
  • Maintain high standards for data integrity, documentation, and repeatability
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and operational protocols
  • End-to-end execution and reliability of test setups and validation workflows
  • Accuracy, quality, and usability of experimental data
  • Readiness and performance of lab infrastructure and equipment
  • Continuous improvement of lab processes, scalability, and efficiency
