About The Position

The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for planning, organizing, and performing test activities in the laboratories according to test procedures, drawings, diagrams, engineering documents, and specifications. This role involves preparing the working area, setting up testing equipment and fixtures, and ensuring adherence to defined procedures. The technician will also be responsible for equipment maintenance, calibration, record-keeping, and reporting test results. Effective communication with test engineers and other engineering group members is crucial. The role requires hands-on work with various filter types and collaboration with team members to improve lab equipment. Adherence to safety rules, including the safe handling of chemicals, is mandatory. The position involves working with basic tools and lifting/moving products up to 50-100 lbs regularly.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in an Industrial or Laboratory Environment.
  • Knowledge of test methods and techniques, test set-up, tools and equipment, materials, and products as well as the ability to analyze and evaluate test results.
  • Ability to work in teams and good communication skills.
  • Able to take direction and training from experienced lab personnel; must be able to work under minimal supervision once trained.
  • Understand Norms and Specifications, Mechanical Aptitude.
  • Familiar with ASTM, ISO, and Customer Specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be able to work with basic tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in industrial technology, or related discipline (Engineering or Business) preferred.
  • Familiarity with filtration products a plus.
  • Learn Lab databases (PVS, PLCM, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize and perform test activities in the laboratories according to test procedure, drawings, diagrams, engineering documents and specifications.
  • Prepare the working area for the necessary tests, set up the testing equipment and ensure that the performed activities follow the defined procedures.
  • Set up test fixtures as required by test protocol including fixture fabrication if necessary.
  • Organize and set up tracking methodology to make sure that samples can be identified afterwards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration on all assigned laboratory equipment within technical capability.
  • Maintain test records, prepare the relevant test documentation and reports, if necessary, on performed activities, ensure that the necessary information is available and up to date.
  • Effectively communicate status and results of tests to responsible test engineers and other engineering group members.
  • Maintain the testing equipment and organize and store test fixtures to ensure the cleanliness and security of the lab.
  • Adhere to all the Management policies, procedures, work instructions and safety rules; to include safe handling of all chemicals and fluids in accordance with MSDS.
  • Perform “hands-on” work with various types of air, oil, fuel, and hydraulic filters.
  • Work closely with team members to maintain and improve lab equipment.
  • Work with hand tools, wrenches, hammers, screw drivers, etc.
  • Lift, push, pull, move products up to 50 -100 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Work on other projects / areas as needed.
