About The Position

As a Laboratory Technician / Sample Coordinator in our Burlington, Ontario laboratory, you'll play an important role in supporting materials testing operations through concrete cylinder testing, sample coordination, and quality-focused laboratory practices. Requirements

  • 1 to 5 years of experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally with concrete materials testing experience.
  • Knowledge of CSA, ASTM, and other standardized laboratory testing procedures.
  • Experience managing samples, documentation, and laboratory workflow in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, along with accurate data entry capabilities.
  • Ability to safely lift, move, and organize samples weighing up to approximately 40 lbs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Materials Testing, or a related discipline is considered an asset.
  • CCIL Concrete Laboratory Certification is considered an asset but is not required.
  • Valid driver's license considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform concrete cylinder testing in accordance with applicable industry standards and laboratory procedures to support quality construction outcomes.
  • Generate accurate and reliable testing data that supports engineering evaluations, project compliance, and client reporting.
  • Coordinate the receiving, logging, labeling, tracking, storage, and organization of laboratory samples across multiple material types.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, field personnel, and project teams to ensure samples are processed efficiently and priorities are met.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, and housekeeping standards to support safe and effective operations.
  • Support quality management initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement activities within the laboratory environment.
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies, testing issues, and non-conformances to support quality and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to a strong safety culture by following established health and safety procedures and promoting safe work practices.
